According to the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, the national minimum wage for cleaning staff is R$1.650 per month as of January 1 2026, based on a 220-hour monthly workload. Overtime must be paid at 50% above the hourly rate of R$7,50. Night shifts receive an additional 20% premium.

The Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego sets the maximum at 44 hours per week for cleaning roles, with at least 11 consecutive hours of rest between shifts. Workers receive 30 days of paid annual leave after 12 months and 120 days of maternity leave or 5 days of paternity leave.

Applicants must present CPF, RG, proof of address, carteira de trabalho digital, and comprovante de residência to the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego portal. No formal education certificate is required but a health certificate from SUS is mandatory for food-handling cleaning roles.

Cleaning staff earning R$1.650 monthly pay 7,5% INSS contribution of R$123,75 and zero IRPF as of the 2026 table published by Receita Federal. FGTS of 8% is deposited by the employer on top of salary.
