They may be expected to perform maintenance, preservation, welding, machining, pipe and mechanical fitting and related activities. Depending on its qualifications, they act as Junior Watchkeeper.AuthorityThe Maintenance Operator acts under the Authority of the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor and/or Engine Room Supervisor as appropriate.Immediate SubordinatesFitters designated as part of team, visitors, vendor technicians, and sub-contractorsAccountable For: Responsibilities & Standards1) Operate Engine Room Equipment and Systems and Utilities Operation1 Prepare marine Engine Room or Aft Machinery Space and Utility Systems for start-up.2 Start and monitor marine Engine Room or Aft Machinery Space and Utility Systems.3 Prepare and shutdown marine Engine Room or Aft Machinery Space and Utility Systems.4 Follow operational and safety procedures in all aspects of work.2) Perform Maintenance activities1 Isolate and reinstate marine Engine Room or Aft Machinery Space and Utility Systems for Maintenance.2 Perform scheduled and unplanned maintenance safely and effectively under PTW Risk Assessment and Management System procedures.3 Ensure work is correctly and accurately identified, recorded and communicated.4 Perform general maintenance, greasing, cleaning, filter changing and housekeeping.5 The Maintenance operator may be required to correctly operate a Lathe, Milling and Shaping Machines, Gas Arc and or Plasma cutting.6 Maintain all portable power tools to limit of responsibility. Proficiency in English at a minimum of A1 level according to the CEFR international standard.
