As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for security guards in Thailand is 400 THB per day as of 1 January 2026 in Bangkok and 372 THB per day in other provinces. Overtime pay must be at least 1.5 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Employers must also provide 300 THB monthly for uniform maintenance.

As per the Ministry of Labour, foreigners require a valid Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit to work as security guards, with permits issued only for roles not reserved for Thai nationals under the 1978 Royal Decree. The permit costs 3,000 THB for one year and must be applied before starting work. Security guard positions are restricted and rarely approved for non-Thais.

As per the Ministry of Labour, applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a primary school certificate or higher, and complete a 24-hour security training course from an approved center. No criminal record is required and Thai nationality is mandatory for most positions under the 2007 Security Business Act.

As per the Department of Employment, applicants must submit a national ID card, house registration, 2-inch photo, and security training certificate when applying through Job Thailand centers. A medical certificate confirming no contagious diseases is also required within 30 days of hiring.
