About UsAvesoro is a leading gold mining company operating in West Africa, committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and operational excellence.As part of our commitment to operational reliability and electrical infrastructure integrity, we are seeking an experienced Underground Electrical Engineer to join our team.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise field installation, operation, maintenance, and commissioning activities of MV/LV electrical systems within the underground mining environment.Verify that maintenance and operational activities performed by electrical teams comply with procedures, standards (IEC, IEEE), and safety requirements.Identify technical non-conformities, initiate corrective actions, and monitor implementation in the field.Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and support the development of permanent corrective solutions.Ensure electrical systems operate safely, correctly, and continuously.Perform field inspections of transformers, switchyards, MCCs, electrical panels, and cable infrastructure.Monitor the reliability and continuity of backup power systems, including UPS and generators.Actively participate in FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.Technically supervise contractors and subcontractors and ensure corrective actions are implemented where required.Verify the accuracy of maintenance and breakdown records within EBISMO / CMMS systems.Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports.Work in full compliance with occupational health and safety requirements to minimize operational risks.Perform field inspections of fiber optic infrastructure, personnel tracking systems, and leaky feeder communication systems and evaluate their effectiveness.Technically assess equipment selection and applications suitable for underground mining conditions.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.Experience:Experience in field installation, operation, and maintenance activities for underground mining electrical systems.Experience implementing planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for MV/LV electrical systems.Ability to perform first-level fault analysis and troubleshooting for electrical failures.Experience participating in installation, testing, and commissioning of transformers, switchyards, MCCs, electrical panels, and cable systems.Experience performing testing, commissioning, and periodic inspections of backup power systems such as UPS and generators.Experience executing field activities in accordance with approved engineering drawings and Method Statements.Active involvement in FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, and commissioning testing activities.Experience preparing reports related to testing results, field measurements, and commissioning records.Ability to provide technical authority and direction to field teams without direct personnel management responsibility.Experience supervising contractor and subcontractor field activities from a technical perspective.Experience implementing LOTO, JSA, and safe working procedures within electrical systems.Experience using EBISMO / CMMS systems for maintenance records, breakdown notifications, and work order management.Experience performing maintenance, testing, and refurbishment activities for electrical panels, MCCs, and field equipment.Ability to prepare quantity take-offs, material requirements, and site assessments for small-scale electrical projects.Experience reporting field observations and improvement recommendations to management.Experience supporting RCA activities through technical analysis and field data collection.Experience ensuring compliance with company procedures, IEC and IEEE standards, and quality requirements.Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems, underground mining electrical infrastructure, commissioning activities, maintenance management systems, fault analysis, power distribution equipment, and electrical safety practices.Soft Skills: Strong communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in remote mining operations and multicultural environments.
