Construction labors Carpenters, Steel Fixers and Helpers

As per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), the standard basic salary for entry-level carpenters is 1,800 AED per month as of 2026. This includes a housing allowance of 500 AED and transportation allowance of 300 AED. Overtime is calculated at 125% of the hourly rate, which is 10.35 AED per hour.

Foreign carpenters need an employer-sponsored residence visa processed through MOHRE, valid for 3 years from 2026. The process requires a job offer, medical examination costing 370 AED, and biometrics for Emirates ID within 30 days of arrival. Employer pays 200-500 AED status change fee if applicant is in UAE on visit visa.

MOHRE mandates at least 2 years of documented carpentry experience and a high school diploma or equivalent vocational certificate attested by the issuing country's ministry. Applicants under 21 years or over 60 years require special approval. Skill assessment may be needed for government projects.

Employer initiates the process via MOHRE portal with passport copy valid 6 months, 4 passport photos, attested experience letters, and medical fitness report. Labour contract is signed electronically, permit issued in 5 working days for 60 days to enter UAE. Total employer cost is 300 AED plus 100 AED medical.
