As per MOHRE, the minimum basic salary for welders to obtain a work permit is AED 3,000 per month excluding housing allowance as of 2026. Total compensation often reaches AED 5,000 including food and accommodation paid by employer. Payments must be processed through the Wage Protection System monthly.

Employers sponsor the work permit via MOHRE for AED 300 (1 year) to AED 600 (3 years), followed by a 60-day entry permit. Foreign welders must pass medical fitness test costing AED 350 and obtain residence visa valid 2-3 years via GDRFA. Labour ban check is required unless waived.

Welders require a high school diploma or vocational welding certificate plus minimum 2 years relevant experience for work permit approval. International certificates must be attested by issuing country authorities and UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No bachelor's degree is mandated.

Submit passport valid for 6 months, 4 passport photos, attested welding certificates and experience letters, employment contract, and medical report. Employer files via MOHRE smart app or Tasheel centers with fees AED 100-500. Processing takes 5-10 working days.
