Job Title: Field Welder
Job Description

This role focuses on installing welded, fitted, and custom-fabricated projects and miscellaneous metal components on client sites. You will work primarily with lighter gauge metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel, and will regularly install unique, one-off pieces in the field. The position combines hands-on welding and fabrication with occasional leadership responsibilities, including guiding small teams and supporting site safety and orientation activities.

Responsibilities
• Install welded, fitted, and custom metal projects and miscellaneous objects on client sites in a safe and professional manner.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and flux core welding on light gauge metals, including carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, on a daily basis.
• Fabricate and fit custom and one-off metal components according to drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
• Grind and finish welds and fabricated parts to meet quality, safety, and aesthetic standards.
• Install unique and custom pieces in the field, ensuring accurate fit, alignment, and secure attachment.
• Operate and control overhead cranes, sit-down forklifts, zoom booms, and scissor lifts to move and position materials and equipment as required.
• Lead or support small teams of installers on site, providing direction and coordinating tasks to complete projects efficiently.
• Conduct or assist with site orientations and health and safety monitoring, helping to ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards.
• Use Aerial Work Platforms and other lifting equipment safely, following all relevant guidelines and training.
• Collaborate closely with team members in both the shop and the field to plan work, solve problems, and deliver high-quality results.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Participate in continuous learning and skills development to support growth into more complex projects and responsibilities.
Essential Skills
• Proven experience welding light gauge metals, including carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Strong MIG, TIG, and flux core welding skills for fabrication and installation work.
• Hands-on experience fabricating and fitting custom or one-off metal items for client projects.
• Experience installing unique and custom metal pieces in the field on client sites.
• Proficiency with grinding and finishing welded and fabricated components.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and sit-down forklifts in a shop or field environment.
• Experience operating zoom booms and scissor lifts to position materials and access work areas.
• AWP (Aerial Work Platform) certification or equivalent training for operating lifts and elevated work equipment.
• CWB FLUXCORE or CWB GMAW certification or experience working to CWB standards.
• Experience managing or leading small teams of installers on site.
• Experience performing site orientations and conducting health and safety inspections or monitoring.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unique and varied project requirements.
• Willingness to learn continuously and grow within a long-term opportunity.

• Prior experience as an installer working on custom metal projects in the field.
• Background as a supervisor or team lead in a welding or fabrication environment.
• Comfort working in both shop and field settings as part of smaller teams.

• Ability to interpret drawings, measurements, and specifications for custom fabrication and installation.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and support safe, efficient work on site.

Work Environment

You will work in smaller teams both in the field and in the shop, alongside a workforce of approximately 16 people, which creates a supportive and collaborative environment with plenty of opportunities to learn from others. The role involves frequent use of welding equipment, grinders, overhead cranes, sit-down forklifts, zoom booms, scissor lifts, and aerial work platforms. The environment emphasizes safety, hands-on work, and continual skill development, with room to grow into greater responsibilities over time.
