Job Description
Restaurant General Manager
Welcome to KFC. Home of the real ones.

We sell the world’s best chicken. We’ve done it for a long old time — since 1939. Now, we proudly serve 1000+ communities across the UK and Ireland, bringing the grit, pride and iconic reputation that started in Kentucky all those years ago.

People who are original. Individual. Fresh. We come to work to be ourselves, and to make something of ourselves. We bring the graft and the laughs every day — building our own community, as we serve our original recipe chicken to the ones, we’re in.

In our place, ambition grows. Careers build. Potential goes further. Our doors are open, and they can take you anywhere.

If you join our team, we only ask one thing. That you be you.

Because that makes us, us.

Sounds good? Great. Here’s more about the job.

About the role

As a Restaurant General Manager, you lead from the front and take full ownership of your restaurant. You’re accountable for performance, people, culture, and results ensuring the restaurant delivers brilliant guest experiences while building a high performing, future ready team.

What will you spend your time doing?
• Lead like you mean it. Take full ownership of the restaurant, leading performance, culture, and standards with confidence. Make sound decisions that deliver results today while supporting long term success, stay accountable for outcomes, and remain calm and decisive during busy or challenging periods.
• Deliver Through Others Build and lead a high performing leadership team, developing people through regular coaching and feedback. Delegate with confidence to create ownership at all levels, and recognise great performance to drive results and a positive culture.
• Unleash Potential Attract and develop great people, recruiting diverse talent with the potential to grow. Build strong relationships, identify future leaders early, and create clear development and progression pathways that strengthen the team for the long term.
• Execute With Focus Keep the restaurant running smoothly and efficiently by setting clear priorities, maintaining strong operational standards, and planning labour and stock effectively. Proactively remove any barriers that could impact performance or results.
• Fuel Exceptional Restaurant Experiences Deliver a great guest experience by leading your team to provide fast, friendly, and consistent service. Use feedback to continually improve, make every guest feel welcome, and empower your team to resolve customer concerns confidently and professionally.
• Shape the Future Shape the future of the restaurant by leading your team confidently through change, embracing new ways of working, and using insight to drive improvement. Work closely with your Area Coach to identify opportunities, plan ahead, and deliver long term business success.

What We Love From You
• You lead from the front and set the standard every day.
• You build trust, handle tough conversations well, and bring the best out of people.
• You run a tight, compliant operation without losing sight of the guest.
• You’re commercially aware and confident owning KPIs, costs, and profitability.
• You stay calm under pressure and thrive in fast paced environments.
• You genuinely care — about people, food, and doing things the right way.

We actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups. If you need additional support during the recruitment process, just let us know — we’re here to help you be the real you.

If you’d like any additional support with your application, have a disability or condition that may affect your performance during the recruitment process, or have any other requirements — just let us know. We’ll be there to help you be the real you.

Ready?
We hope so. If you’re ready to be part of our community, now’s the time to apply.

Worried you aren’t ticking all the boxes? Don’t - we’d still love to hear from you.
• We do things a little differently here. Some of our restaurants are run by KFC directly (that’s our Equity team), while others are owned by our awesome Franchise partners. So, things like benefits might vary a bit depending on where you work – but the heart, the culture, and that finger lickin’ feeling? That’s the same wherever you join us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Packing Jobs

Q What is the National Living Wage rate for packing jobs in the United Kingdom from April 2026?
GOV.UK states the National Living Wage for workers aged 21 and over in packing roles is £12.50 per hour from 1 April 2026. Employers must pay this rate for all hours worked including overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate. Packing operatives under 21 receive £10.00 per hour under the same rules.
Q How many hours can I legally work in a UK packing warehouse job without a visa sponsorship?
GOV.UK confirms standard full-time packing shifts are limited to 48 hours per week on average over 17 weeks unless opted out in writing. Workers receive 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave including bank holidays calculated on actual hours worked. Overtime above 48 hours triggers mandatory rest breaks of 11 consecutive hours daily.
Q What documents do I need to apply for a packing job in the United Kingdom in 2026?
GOV.UK requires a valid passport or biometric residence permit plus a right to work share code for all packing job applicants. Employers must complete a right to work check before the first shift and retain records for two years. No formal education certificates are mandated for entry-level packing positions.
Q Do packing jobs in the UK require a Skilled Worker visa for non-UK residents in 2026?
GOV.UK specifies that packing operative roles fall below the Skilled Worker visa threshold and cannot be sponsored unless the salary reaches £38,700 or the going rate for the SOC code. Most warehouse packing positions are filled by UK or settled workers only. Seasonal worker visas do not cover permanent packing contracts.
