Assistant Electrician

As per the Ministry of Labour & Employment, the minimum wage for electricians classified as skilled workers under the Code on Wages is Rs 26,400 per month effective 1 January 2026 in central sphere employments. This includes basic pay plus variable dearness allowance of Rs 3,500 indexed to CPI. Overtime beyond 48 hours per week is compensated at Rs 314 per hour.

Candidates must have passed class 10th and completed 2-year ITI in Electrician trade with National Trade Certificate (NTC) from NCVT/SCVT institutes. Freshers qualify for helper roles, while 1-year apprenticeship experience is needed for technician positions. Admission to ITI courses requires 10th marks above 35% as of 2026.

A Certificate of Competency as Wireman (Class II) from the State Electrical Licensing Board is required, valid for 5 years and renewable. Eligibility includes ITI Electrician certificate plus 3 years practical experience; application fee is Rs 750 with exam on 15 March and 15 September annually. Over 2.5 lakh licenses issued nationwide as of 2026.
