As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for unskilled workers in packing jobs is OMR 325 per month for category 1 (no high school qualification) as of 2026. This applies to Omani nationals in the private sector. Overtime pay is 125% of the hourly rate for hours exceeding 8 per day.

Foreigners require a work residence visa (Article 13 visa) sponsored by an Omani employer for packing jobs. The employer first obtains labour clearance from MOL, then applies for the visa at ROP, valid for 2 years and renewable. Processing fee is OMR 20 plus medical test costs.

Packing jobs are unskilled positions requiring no formal education or prior experience per MOL classification. Expatriates must be at least 21 years old and provide a health fitness certificate from approved clinics. Omani nationals can start from age 15 with parental consent.

Required documents include passport copy valid for 6 months, two photos, medical fitness report, police clearance certificate, and employer sponsorship letter. Submit via employer to MOL for work permit approval, which takes 5 working days. Fee is OMR 10 per permit.
