As per the Ministry of Labour Ministerial Decision No. 12 of 2021, effective through 2026, the minimum basic wage for private sector workers including plumbers is QAR 1,000 per month. Employers must provide accommodation or an allowance of QAR 300 per month (for up to 4 workers per room), and food or QAR 300 monthly allowance. Overtime beyond 48 hours per week is paid at 125% of the basic hourly rate.

Foreign plumbers need an employer-sponsored work entry permit valid for one month, followed by a renewable residence permit (RP) up to 5 years. Requirements include a job offer matching the plumber profession code, passport valid 6 months, and medical fitness certificate from approved clinic costing QAR 100. The employer applies via MOI portal within 30 days of arrival.

Plumbers require a minimum high school diploma or equivalent vocational certificate in plumbing plus 2 years documented experience for work permit approval under MOL skill category B. No university degree is mandatory, but skills must match the job via employer verification or trade test. As of 2026, applicants under 21 years old are not recruitable.

Required documents include passport copy, 4 passport photos, attested academic/experience certificates, medical fitness report, and employer job offer. The employer submits via MOL's Unified National Platform for Labor (UNPL) with a processing fee of QAR 200 per applicant. Approval takes 3-5 working days as of 2026.
