Under the direct supervision of the security shift supervisor, performs a variety of protective, service and courtesy duties, including complex and special duties requiring above average initiative, judgment, and specialized knowledge or skill. Provides a safe and secure environment for visitors, staff, and the Museum collections.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Take the lead in an emergency situation
• Must have the ability to work well with other Team Members in order to achieve departmental goals
• Provide general information to the public in a courteous manner
• Observes, assists and controls when necessary visitor access in the Museum
• Protect the collections, serves as a deterrent to acts of vandalism or violence
• Assists with crowd control at Museum entry points, patrols premises, as directed to protect FM property
• Reports activities in order to maintain order and protect Museum property, visitors, and staff
• Maintains a post at assigned entrances to screen incoming personnel, maintain sign-in and sign-out logs, as well as badging process for persons entering the Museum
• At specific times, locks and unlocks specified Museum entrances, areas and exits
• Responds to requests for assistance and evaluates appropriate courses of action, including investigation and explanation of policies and procedures.
• Respond to emergencies, such as fires, evacuation implementations or employee and/or visitor injuries
• Complete incident reports
• Administer First Aid CPR/AED/Stop The Bleed in the event of any major medical emergencies
• Serves as backup to the shipping and receiving staff, Access Control, Mail Center and the freight elevator
• Performs duties in the Security Console, which includes daily inspection of security cameras, alarms, communication system and recording devices for the Museum
• Assist with the on-the-job trainings of new security officers
• Follows all instructions and adheres to all policies and procedures as presented in the Policy Manual
• Services supervisors as needed.

Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent
• Three or more years of security experience
• Have the ability to work under pressure and take charge in rapidly escalating situations
• Strong Computer Skills such as Gmail, Google Calendar etc.
• Flexible with the schedule and may be required to assist with staffing assignments on other shifts

Physical Requirements:
• Be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
• Respond quickly to alarms and/or emergencies
• Climb ladders
• Lift or move equipment such as packages, cables or parcels
• Must be able to lift or carry 20 or more pounds

Receives general supervision by Assistant Manager

Supervision Exercised:

The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
