Job Description
MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. As a Public Safety Officer, you will help ensure a safe and welcoming environment so patients, families, and employees can focus on care, research, and education. Public Safety Officers are essential to maintaining security and supporting the mission of MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of relevant work experience, and a valid Texas driver's license. Preferred qualifications include International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to public safety.

Minimum $18.00 - Midpoint $20.54 - Maximum $23.08 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The primary work location is the MD Anderson Cancer Center campus in the Texas Medical Center.

Responsibilities
• Provide information, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff
• Patrol campus by vehicle and on foot to monitor for suspicious activity and safety hazards
• Enforce institutional and parking regulations; issue permits and citations as needed
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Clery Act
• Respond to emergencies and maintain calm, professional judgment under pressure
• Support institutional policies and ensure a safe environment for all individuals on campus

Requirements

EDUCATION
• Required: High school diploma or equivalent

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Required: One year of relevant work experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Required: Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license
• Preferred: International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
