Position Summary

The role of Security Officer is to operate with the day-to-day operation and long-term outlook of the safety and security department.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Security Tasks (40%):
Conduct routine loading dock and employee lot inspections. Ensuring the area is kept clean and free of trash and debris prior to the start of each scheduled shift.
Conduct investigation and provide follow up to departments that violate dock cleanliness.
Responds to all emergency situations immediately. Takes appropriate action to safeguard guests, employees, and the hotel.
Reviews accident investigations to ensure accurate and complete reporting.
Conducting regular patrol of the property to ensure all areas are safe and secure.
Team Development (40%):
Orienting employees to the department and hotel.
Providing on the job training on responsibilities.
Ensure that all security staff is versed and completely trained on all parking
applications. This includes assisting staff on resetting server procedures, clearing ticket jams, reprogramming procedures at the gate as well as supply audits.
Ensuring security team takes on both a proactive property security and customer care/contact and support role.
Maintain a positive inter-departmental relationship through the hotel and with outside vendors.
Leadership Role (20%):
Promoting day-to-day awareness and providing security training for management and line staff.
Provide leadership and act as a liaison to hotel management and guests in absence of the presence of Security Manager or Director of Security.
Meet regularly with the Area Director of Facilities.
Attend event PreCONs when necessary.
Taking a leadership role with both the Security team and Safety Committee.
Requirements/Skills
Two years of Security experience, preferably at an upper upscale brand property
High School Diploma or GED
Supervision experience in a security related field
CPR/1st Aid/AED Certification
Solid knowledge of Sefety and Security operations
Strong interpersonal skills
Able to resolve conflicts, guests, supervisor and employee
Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
Ability to occasionally walk up and down stairs.
Visual ability to observe team members in the workplace, analyze operations and detect
situations of concern

Requirement/Skills
High School graduate required
Associates/Bachelors Degree or equivalent preferred (additional training [e.g. military, law enforcement] and education is highly desirable)
Ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year security experience
Experience with MS Office applications and Outlook required
Previous work experience should include working in a high-volume environment, as well as, customer-service oriented atmosphere
Demonstrates strong verbal and interpersonal skills
Works well independently or as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
Commitment to exceptional guest service
A positive attitude
Adhere to the policies and procedures of the hotel

Physical Demands
Perform repetitive hand and arm movements
Ability to lift, pull, push up to 25 pounds
Ability to squat, bend, kneel and twist
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to see, hear, speak, read and write legibly
Ability to reach with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time up to 8 hours
Duties may involve climbing stair and walking inclines or uneven terrain

The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at all times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shift and alter assigned duties as business dictates.
