As per the Ministry of Labour & Social Development, the minimum contractual wage for entry-level cleaning staff in the private sector is BHD 300 per month as of January 2026. Overtime pay is 1.25 times the regular hourly rate, calculated at BHD 1.56 per hour based on an 8-hour day. This applies to both Bahraini and expatriate workers under Labour Law No. 36 of 2012.
Q What work permit do foreigners need for cleaning staff jobs in Bahrain?
International applicants require a Temporary Work Permit (Article 75) followed by a Residence Permit sponsored by an employer, processed via LMRA as of 2026. The permit costs BHD 200 for issuance and BHD 4 daily levy paid by the sponsor. Processing takes 5-10 working days after medical tests.
Q What are the eligibility criteria for cleaning staff jobs in Bahrain without prior experience?
No formal education or experience is required for unskilled cleaning positions; applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a medical fitness test per MLSD guidelines effective 2026. Bahraini nationals get priority under localization quotas of 10% for cleaning roles. Expatriates need employer sponsorship.

Required documents include a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), 4 passport photos, medical fitness certificate, police clearance, and employment contract specifying BHD 300 minimum wage, submitted via LMRA portal in 2026.
