Job Description
Job Title: Full-Time Live-Out Housekeeper with Childcare/Family Assistant Duties

Reporting to: The Principals

Start: ASAP

Location: Upper East Side - NYC

Hours: Monday through Friday, 12pm-8pm; flexibility required for occasional evenings, overnights, and travel

Salary: $40-$45/hour, dependent on experience; overtime pay if working hours exceed 40 per week ($100/overnight rate, if needed to stay the night or when traveling with the family)

Benefits: PTO, sick days, main federal holidays, annual discretionary raise and bonus

The Family: Husband, wife, 9-year-old, and 7-year-old

The Home: 3,200sq ft apartment

Travel: 1-2 domestic trips with the family per year; also, must be flexible for overnight stays if the parents are traveling for work or pleasure

Pets: an 11-year-old, hypoallergenic dog

Key Responsibilities*

Household Cleaning
• Ensure all aspects of the apartment are clean and maintained
• Clean throughout the house (daily and deep clean): vacuuming, mopping, dusting and wiping surfaces, cleaning kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and common areas
• Daily bed making; regular changing of sheets and towels
• Wash dishes, load/unload dishwasher, wipe down countertops and appliances
• Clean appliances as needed
• Tidy all rooms to ensure items are neatly stored and clean
• Liaise with the principals on duties
• Clean and organize refrigerator, check and restock household supplies as needed
• Report damage, stains, or unusual activity to the principals
• Conduct home organizational projects as needed
• Put out trash/recycling bins and return

Supplies
• Monitor, order, and shop for household inventory, including supplies, groceries, and toiletries as needed
• Record and file receipts for petty cash and household credit card
• Maintain household inventories of various supplies
• Run errands as needed

Laundry & Clothing Care
• Manage all family laundry, hand washing, and ironing/steaming
• Ensure linens are laundered and changed weekly
• Folding and organizing drawers and closets
• Manage the wardrobes and closets, keeping them organized and neat
• Light seasonal organization, including coat closets and children’s clothing rotation
• Organize dry cleaning as appropriate, and arrange collections and drop offs (take to dry cleaners as needed)

Contractors & Vendors
• Meet contractors and vendors and oversee maintenance appointments when necessary (cleaners, repair people, deliveries, building staff/super)
• Check all items in the home are in good working order and report problems to the principals

Family Assistance
• Monitor deliveries and arrange returns
• Unpack and organize household deliveries as requested
• Organize returns as needed
• Run errands (dry cleaning, pharmacy, etc.)
• Flag any unexpected visitors when principals are not in residence
• Assist with packing/unpacking for their travels

Cooking
• Basic food preparation for family and children; able to follow recipes if needed (2-3 times per week; the family does not have any food allergies)
• Light grocery list management
• Loading and unloading groceries into proper storage
• Periodic refrigerator and pantry clean-outs
• Maintaining a clean, organized kitchen at all times
• Assist if needed during events and family gatherings

Guest Arrival & Event/Party Assistance
• Prepare the home and rooms to the principals’ specifications for their or guest arrival
• Help with event/party set up and break down (e.g. for dinner parties, birthday parties, etc.)
• Assist during the event by ensuring guests have everything they need, including serving drinks and providing any additional support as required

Travel
• Preparing the home before and after family travel (fridge clean-out, laundry reset, general organization)
• Packing and unpacking for family travel
• Staying overnight and traveling with the family as needed (at most, 1-2 domestic trips per year; and staying over if the parents are traveling for work or pleasure)

Childcare Responsibilities
• Meeting children after school (4pm or later)
• Preparing and serving dinner
• Managing evening routines, including baths and bedtime preparation
• Managing children’s backpacks and sports gear
• Keeping children’s bedrooms and closets organized on an ongoing basis
• Coordinating playdates or activities as needed
• Occasional gift wrapping for birthdays and holidays

Pet Care
• Feeding and walking dog 2–3 times daily
• Administering basic medications if needed
• Attending vet visits as needed

Requirements
• Legally able to work within the United States
• Must live within a reasonable daily commute to the Upper East Side
• Proven similar work experience for a HNW private residence (at least three years)
• Experience must include caring for high-end materials (marble, natural wood floors, etc.)
• English proficiency (read, write, and speak)
• Happy to undergo a criminal background check
• Possess a strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
• Excellent references required from both current and previous employers
